Eliezer KASEREKA- CEO/ Fondator
« We are here in this Great Lake region to perform, to reach hearts and minds, and perhaps to save lives. We give people hope and strength in the dark situations they have faced and are often still facing. We teach them love and tolerance because these qualities are the foundation of our African nations. »
Peace
Peace in our work structure leads us to justice and equity, in this framework we base ourselves on sensitizations by a theatrical approach of the Forum theatre or participative theatre of the oppressed based on the methods of Auguste Boal, a theatre where the population itself finds solutions to the problems of stereotypes prejudices which push them to a lack of Peace, the non mutual confidence and to the tribal war and the war of the earth.
Seminars, conferences and film screenings also help us to acquire good images of peace and reconciliation within our respective communities.
The law
In front of the law we are all equal, however the constant bitter according to which the laws of our countries are written in international language and that the majority of the people living in zones of countryside are not educated and even if certain books are in local languages case of the RD Congo, many people do not know how to read and write this is why we AMANI KWETU INTERNATIONAL Aisbl help them to acquire more knowledge on their rights and their duties as citizen that to avoid the problems of exploitations and.of their rights in conflict zones and everywhere else as a result of ignorance on the part of the population.
- Extension of the law on land rights in a conflict zone: We work with the vulnerable population, farmers for the most part, victims of conflicts and other forms of manipulation of land management. We extend the law on land rights to avoid fraudulent tax payments in agricultural areas;
- Thanks to our listening clubs: we teach them Congolese law, most of which they are unaware of, based on the constitution of the Democratic Republic of Congo, so that they learn their rights and duties on an integral level.
- We are clarifying customary rights and the difference between private property rights: customs have more influence on the population in this part of the country, which is why we are working on human rights, to balance them out so that customary practices do not directly take precedence over the management of public affairs and the spirit of patriotism.
- we are raising awareness of the right to vote in elections and the right to health: in our area of action, which is a zone of multiple conflicts, there is a lot of external pressure on the choice of candidates, but thanks to our work strategies we are helping the population to understand that the choice is theirs and that voting is based on merit and not on obligation or external pressure from anyone;
- The right to defend one’s country : we are teaching the population and our various communities that they have the full right to defend their country in the event of external aggression or internal aggression by militias and rebel groups, but that this must be done legally for those capable of joining the regular army’s military training. We therefore have a programme called « KUVI », which stands for Building Peace thanks to war veterans and former militiamen.
Constructive Usage of war veteran for peace Program (social inclusion and reintegration)
To establish a close relationship between the context of war in the Democratic Republic of Congo and in Europe and to seek ways of circumventing certain obstacles arising from the context of war in the Democratic Republic of Congo in order to
– Establish the objectives of work in target environments affected by conflict and war,
– Establish working strategies in these different target environments for dialogue.
Make peace thanks to war veterans, i.e. former government soldiers as well as former rebels and militiamen who have decided to take part in peace-building.
- Why work with war veterans?
- They have a thorough understanding of war and its evils.
- They know the importance of serving in the regular army rather than in the militia for young people who would one day like to defend the nation.
- Why with former militiamen?
- Because :
- They know the traps used by recruiters, so they talk about it with the population, especially young people.
They know about the atrocities and poor living conditions experienced in the bush and their experiences have helped generations to be cautious and refuse to join an armed group.
On the Road to Peaceful Parenthood in a Conflict and War-Torn Region
Living in a conflict and war-torn region can be challenging, especially when it comes to raising children. The constant threat of violence and instability can have a significant impact on the well-being and development of young minds. However, despite the difficult circumstances, many parents in these regions strive to create a peaceful and nurturing environment for their children.
